I've heard about it way back in college from our computer programmer in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (DEBS). He was then editing some pictures in his computer, when me and Valerie approached him. During that time, Val was planning to buy a digital camera, so she asked for the brand and model of the camera he used to take the pictures. On the other hand, I'm more interested on where the photos were taken. He then told us that it was taken from one of their climb. It turned out that his a member of the UP-PGH Mountaineering Club. I really wanted to be a mountaineer, so I asked him how to join and what are the euipments that I need to buy. Since the equipments and gears are expensive, I've decided to wait 'til I have a job, so my salary could support the expenses.
When I've got the chance to get employed in PGH, I've waited for the UPPGHMC to open for membership. A lot of times, I would stand in front of their bulletin board and drool over their pictures, hoping that someday I would be part of the group. I've waited for more than a year, then last month, I've noticed an announcement posted on their bulletin board. They were open for membership for the whole month of September! My heart jumped for joy! I wasted no time and immediately signed up. I inquired on the different gears that I need, and bought it.
Our first climb (orientation) would be on October 14-15 at Mt. Talamitam in Nasugbu, Batangas. I'm so excited!!! I just hope I wouldn't get sunburned. ;p
